Environment

Reflection for HP version 13.0 through 14.x

Situation

This technical note explains how to remap the HP Enter and HP Tab keys in Reflection for HP.

Resolution

Default Mappings

Reflection for HP automatically maps your enhanced PC keyboard to emulate an HP terminal keyboard. The Enter key on the 10-key pad will perform an HP block mode Enter function (HpEnter). The Return or Enter key on the alpha-numeric section of your keyboard will perform a return or carriage return (Return).

By default, the 10-key pad + key is not mapped. To enhance functionality, you may want to map the 10-key + key to a Tab key.

Mapping the Enter Key

Keyboard mapping is required to change the 10-key pad Enter key to generate a Return instead of the HP block mode Enter.

Follow these steps to map the Enter key as a carriage return:

  1. On the Reflection Setup menu, click Keyboard Map.
  2. In the Keyboard Map Setup dialog box, click the PC keyboard 10-key pad Enter key, and then click Remove.
  3. On the PC keyboard, double-click the 10-key pad Enter key. Left-click the terminal keyboard Return or Enter key in the alpha-numeric section of the keyboard, and then click Map. Click OK.

This mapping causes the 10-key pad Enter key to generate a Return.

  1. To save this keyboard mapping, click Save on the Reflection terminal window's File menu.

Mapping a 10-key + Key to a Tab Key

You can use keyboard mapping to change the 10-key pad + key to generate a tab. By default, the 10-key pad + key is not mapped. Follow these steps to map a Tab key:

  1. On the Reflection Setup menu, click Keyboard Map.
  2. In the Keyboard Map Setup dialog box, left-click the 10-key pad + key on the PC keyboard.
  3. Click the terminal keyboard 10-key pad Tab key, and then click Map. Click OK.
  4. To save this keyboard mapping, click Save on the Reflection terminal window's File menu.
