Environment

Reflection for ReGIS Graphics

Situation

  • Reflection session is displaying ReGIS graphics.
  • Reflection stops updating and displays the following error message on the status bar:
The Graphics buffer is full. All graphics commands will not be stored until the screen is cleared.
  • Reflection session may become temporarily frozen and users may experience problems with images or screens not being fully rendered.

Resolution

To fix this problem you may need to do one or both of the following:
  • Edit the ReGIS buffer size setting.
  • Edit the Use ReGIS V6 setting.

Procedures for each of these tasks are presented in the following sections.

Edit the ReGIS Buffer Size Setting

The Reflection default ReGIS Buffer Size is 5000. To fix buffer overflow problems you can increase the buffer, or disable the buffer by setting it to zero.

Note: A substantial increase in the buffer size will decrease redraw speed and may cause workstation resource problems.

Follow the directions below to edit the buffer size.

  1. Open a Reflection session by clicking the Reflection icon.
  2. On the Setup menu, click View Settings.
  3. In the Search field, type regis.
  4. Select Regis Buffer Size from the Reflection Settings list.
  5. By default, the Setting Details list box will display 5000. Highlight the 5000 and replace it with 0, or a number higher than 5000 (range is 0 - 32767).
  6. Click OK.
  7. Save your Reflection settings file.

Try to duplicate the error. If the problem persists, proceed to the following section, Edit the Use ReGIS V6 Setting.

Edit the Use ReGIS V6 Setting

Edit the Use ReGIS V6 setting to configure Reflection to use bitmaps when displaying ReGIS graphics. After enabling this setting, you will no longer be able to maintain an image while resizing the Reflection window.

Follow the directions below to adjust the buffer size.

  1. Open a Reflection session by clicking the Reflection icon.
  2. On the Setup menu, click View Settings.
  3. In the Search field, type regis.
  4. Select Use ReGIS V6 from the Reflection Settings list.
  5. By default, No will be selected in the Setting Details list box.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Save your Reflection settings file.

Try to duplicate the error.
